The Tenuta Monte Gorna is a family-run winery driven by a deep-rooted passion for land and wine, passed down through three generations. Set at an elevation of 760 meters in Monte Gorna-Carpene “contrada” along the Etna Wine Route, this estate is nestled in a place of raw beauty on the southeastern slopes of the volcano.

Vineyards Between Craters and Sea
Nestled between the dormant craters of Monte Gorna and Monte Ilice, surrounded by oak and chestnut woods and vibrant broom shrubs, the vineyards of Tenuta Monte Gorna span 5 hectares. With the sea in front and the silhouette of Mount Etna behind, these vineyards are planted with Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio for Etna Rosso, and Carricante and Catarratto for Etna Bianco.
Rural Traditions and Sustainable Viticulture
The soil, formed from the breakdown of lava, is sandy and rich in skeletal matter, organic substances and minerals. The vineyards’ proximity to the woods and the significant temperature fluctuations between day and night promote grape maturation, endowing the wines with distinct personality and character.
Cultivated for over a decade using certified organic farming methods, the vineyards are bordered by terraced dry stone walls that preserve the historical memory of an ancient rural landscape.
Guided tours with wine tastings aim to showcase the rich rural culture of Etna’s viticulture, the family’s passion and respect for the land, and the abundant biodiversity present on the slopes of Etna.

WINERY OPENINGS, TOURS AND TASTINGS
– All tastings are carried out with agreed day and time according to availability and only with prior reservation required by calling the company’s contact persons (Stefania, tel. 0039 327 424 1853; Sebastiano, tel. 0039 328 778 8989) or by sending an e-mail to info@tenutamontegorna.it and also confirming the actual number of participants 3 days before the fixed date
– 6 tasting possibilities: with traditional Sicilian products (2 hrs and 3 wines in tasting), with “light lunch” (2 hrs and 3 wines in tasting), vertical of a label in 4 vintages (2 hrs and 4-5 wines in tasting), blind tasting/sensory path (2 hrs and 3 wines in tasting), tasting and lunch with “show cooking” (2 hrs and 3 wines in tasting, minimum 6 participants), “cooking class” (3 hrs and 3 wines in tasting, from 6 to 15 participants, available in both Italian and English)
– Menus may be subject to slight variations based on seasonal availability of products
– The experience takes place in three phases: reception at the reception facility by a family member, visit and walk in the vineyard, wine tasting accompanied by traditional Sicilian food products
– In the tasting are the 3 versions of Etna Doc already on the market and coming from the vineyard of Contrada Monte Gorna-Carpene; only on request it is possible to organize vertical or horizontal tastings of specific vintages or single types
– The tasting is led by one of the family members who will expound on the particularities and characteristics of each grape variety and vintage being tasted, proposing pairings capable of enhancing the organoleptic qualities of each wine
– Number of participants: from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 40
– Any changes and/or cancellations to the reservation must be communicated only by e-mail within 24 calendar hours from the start time of the activity; in case of failure to communicate a reduction in the number of participants, the company reserves the right to ask for payment of all participation fees of the originally confirmed reservation
– For bookings of large groups, the winery reserves the right to ask for a deposit to guarantee at least 50% of the expected amount; this deposit will be retained in the event of modification and/or cancellation of the reservation occurred beyond the 24 calendar hours from the beginning of the activity
– Languages: Italian, English, Spanish
– In the event of adverse weather conditions such that the tour cannot run smoothly, a new date may be arranged
