Tenuta delle Terre Nere, Randazzo (Catania)

On the northern slopes of Mount Etna, Marc De Grazia's certified organic farm reflects 40 years of passion, expertise and respect for the land.

Must Try

The Tenuta delle Terre Nere, born from over 40 years of passion and expertise by Marc De Grazia, is located in the hillside region between Solicchiata and Randazzo, on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, the area renowned for producing some of the finest red wines in the Etna region. The estate spans about 45 hectares, divided into 29 plots and, most importantly, 9 “contrade”, each with its own unique characteristics. The soils vary in composition and the vineyards are planted at altitudes ranging from 600 to 1000 meters above sea level.

«Between Solicchiata and Randazzo lies a 45-hectare estate, divided into 9 unique “contrade”»

The Philosophy Behind Every Bottle
The winery’s philosophy is straightforward: given the region’s extreme climate, meticulous vineyard care is essential to achieving ideal ripeness. With excellent grapes as the foundation, minimal intervention in the cellar allows the unique characteristics of each grape variety, microclimate, and volcanic terroir to shine in every wine. It’s not about pursuing perfection, but about finding the perfect balance between what nature provides and what experience, sensitivity and imagination suggest.

Celebrating Terroir: The Art of Single-Contrada Winemaking
Since the first harvest in 2002, the grapes from each “contrada” have been vinified and bottled separately, showcasing the multifaceted virtues of Mount Etna in their purest form. This extraordinary place, where nature is both harsh and generous, is embraced with a commitment to sustainability, certified organic practices, and an ethical approach to the land. Honoring both ancient and modern knowledge, the goal is to preserve what has been passed down and hand it to future generations in an even better, more beautiful and more abundant condition.

«Here, the mission is to ethically express the diverse virtues of Etna in their purest form»
