The Dorilli Estate, situated in Acate within the Vittoria territory, was restored by the Planeta family through the renovation of an old manor house at the heart of an ancient estate. Once-forgotten vineyards were replanted, and the cellar and expansive rooms – now reserved for hospitality – were lovingly restored. With its characteristic Art Nouveau charm, the entire estate now radiates a refined elegance and captures the unmistakable atmosphere of Sicily’s historic country estates.

The Home of Cerasuolo di Vittoria Docg
Since 1997, nestled between the plateau and the sea at 67 to 90 meters above sea level, Planeta’s vineyards thrive in the Mediterranean ecosystem. Here, where summers bring high temperatures and minimal rainfall, the vineyards are devoted entirely to native varieties Nero d’Avola and Frappato. To adhere to the strict requirements of the Cerasuolo di Vittoria Docg – which mandates that at least 50% of the blend be Nero d’Avola – the majority of these 30 hectares is dedicated to cultivating this celebrated variety.
Distinctive Red Soils Shaping Cerasuolo’s Character
The soils here begin with a top layer of about one meter of red sands, underlain by a deeper layer of limestone tuff, essential for maintaining the vines’ water balance. These unique red soils, composed of fine, light sand, play a key role in shaping the aromatic profile of Cerasuolo wine. This soil composition, along with the wine’s name – derived from the Sicilian word “cerasa” for cherry – perfectly reflects the essence of this vibrant, cherry-hued wine.
Three Expressions of Dorilli’s Unique Terroir
The wines of Dorilli embody the rich, unmistakable identity of this region through three distinctive expressions: a pure Frappato, showcasing the full potential of this native variety, and two styles of Cerasuolo di Vittoria – Cerasuolo di Vittoria Docg and Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Docg – each distinguished by unique blend compositions and vinification processes.
