Corleone, with probable Arab origins and repopulated in the 13th century by a Lombard colony before becoming a fief of the Ventimiglia family, is a town often overshadowed by its mafia history. Yet, it has much more to offer, from the remnants of the 11th-century Saracen Tower to beautiful churches like San Martino Vescovo (St. Martin the Bishop), Santa Rosalia (St. Rosalie) and Sant’Andrea (St. Andrew), the latter built on the remains of an ancient mosque and filled with remarkable artworks.
Nearby, the Bosco della Ficuzza Nature Reserve offers a lush landscape perfect for outdoor exploration.
